Sakana Sushi Bar & Cuisine @ Penang Road, Georgetown.

Sakana, a restaurant which i think most penangites familiar with for its location ( intersection of Penang Road and Campbell Street ) but not everyone had tried it. For those who had tried Sakana might never return again as i can see a lot of bad reviews since they starts operating a year ago.

Stepping into a brand new year, they are giving a change and improvement.
Starts from 1st of April 2014, they had role out new menu, improved their management and collaborate with new chef. It shows how committed the restaurant management is in running a truly service oriented restaurant; not only that they listened to all those negative feedback but they accepted it and improve everything. So why not give them another chance to make up for their wrong and serve you better? As for those who haven't tried it is definitely worth to give them a go with all these revamp.

That is why we are invited by Sakana through Tour Directions for this food review.

Deluxe Assorted Roasted Sushi - Rm40
A very simple, clean and straight to the point dish. Sliced sashimi lightly seared for a perfect thin layer on the outside while still remaining soft and raw in the middle. Perfect combination that taste pretty delicious for those that are undecided to go raw or well done. Best still for those first timer on sashimi.

Deluxe Sashimi - Rm55
This is so tempting and hardly able to resist when it is served on table. A very appetizing dish for its freshness and juiciness. Didn't get to try it all but salmon is definatily my first choice. The thickness of the Salmon is just perfect for my liking, in fact those sashimi were sliced generously!

Sakana Special Maki - Rm22

Sakana Aburi Maki - Rm20
For me, the Salmon Aburi Maki is more appealing compared to the Sakana Special Maki, Maybe i'm a salmon lover but no doubt their salmon is the best afterall.

Unagi Tosamaki - Rm22
Can't really taste the unagi, the only thing i can taste is a mixture of ingredients and sprinkled of Dashi flake.

Watana Gani Salad - Rm18
This is something you will die for. I think every one of us love this very much as i can see a lot of smiling faces looking very satisfied. It's a combination of soft shell crabs and salmon skin, pair with a refreshing sesame sauce. I bet you won't stop munching after the first bite.

Butaniku Enoki Maki - Rm14
It's Enoki! My all time favourite, wrapped in slices of lean pork! Not bad thou. The moisture of  the enoki and tenderness of the lean pork were so yummylicious :)

Kamo Teriyaki -Rm18
Don't have the chance to taste this as when i returned to my place from photo shoot, the plate was already empty! LOL. Guess it was too delectable!

Salmon Teppanyaki - Rm20
Slightly dissapointed for this dish. A little less succesfull when I think the chef might want to add in a little twist by adding ginger as one of the ingredient but it tasted oddly. Salmon were overcooked too.

Kansei Chaban - Rm13
This is a rather ordinary fried rice for me, still lack of some 'uummphh' and 'wok hei'.

Yaki Soba - Rm15
This Yaki Soba which consist of generous ingredient of shrimp, fish and squid with some sprinkled of Dashi flake couldn't satisfied me enough. Perhaps, the sweetness is a little overwhelming.

The reason one might pull back from visiting is because of the parking spaces as Sakana is located along the  busy road where it is almost impossible for you to find a carpark.
But don't freak out, Sakana is providing FREE Carpark for their customer.

Coffee Smith @ Maritime Piazza, Karpal Singh Drive, Penang.

Omgsh! This is so near to me! I can even walk to this newly opened cafe located at the Maritime Piazza, Karpal Singh Drive. I'm pretty sure here would be the next hot spot in Penang. No doubt, the opening of cafes ( there are few cafes will be opening soon) and Mcd do make this place turned livelier which is a good thing for me. At least i don't have to drive far away to fix my craving for Mcd and Starbucks. BTW, did i mention that Starbucks will be coming up real soon?
Let's take a look at this very first cafe which operate in Maritime Piazza.
It was actually my second visit to this cafe as it was full house on our first visit. In fact,
it was full every night. I can really see the crowd every time i passed by. So you might need to make a reservation for dinner but i'm not sure about lunch.
And lucky me to have reached earlier on that day. Am able to take a photo tour before it was packed with people.

See! No joke! Every table was fully occupied after 8pm.
# table for big groupie or family
# love it! yay or nay?

# So in love with their interior

# Menu
#Juice and coffee which include in the brunch set
#Potted Milk Tea   Rm9
Apart from the oreo powder topping which make it special/different, it's just an ordinary milk tea. Perhaps, kids may like it! :)

#Fruit Yogurt Salad  Rm14
A healthy dish consist of strawberries, apples, banana, lettuce and mango which P like the most. But the serving of fruits is not that generous thou. Or maybe it just doesn't satisfied me enough for my fruits craving. Anyway, the yogurt dressing is good.
#English French toast fried fish steak (Brunch Set)   Rm26
A very creative presentation which worth to be complimented. Serves with French toast, fried fish steak, cheesy meatball, chips and salad. I don't know about you but for me, this set of brunch can be shared by two. If you are a big eater then just take it all by yourself. Nothing more to shout out for this, everything was straight forwardly average, not too good and not too bad. Maybe we took too long for photo session, the food was not warm enough when we start to eat it - our bad. Anyway, P loves the extra touch of cinnamon on the French toast which complement it very well.

#Latte/Coffee
A surprise special treat from the owner. He said this is for us to take more photos! So sweet of him. Maybe he noticed that we were hugely engrossed in taking photos! #LOL. Tenkiew boss! I feel so grateful as i always met kind and friendly boss/owner :)

B & W Coffee House, Jalan Muntri, Penang.

This newly opened cafe is located at Jalan Muntri. For an easier guide, it is just a stone's throw away from Gala House. Spotted this cafe when we were actually looking for some place to chill after dinner. This cafe is owned by Robert, a very friendly and selfless boss, and his partner.
B&W Coffee House just started operating for not more than two weeks. So it's still consider a newbies in town.

So what does cardboard have to do with this cafe? o.O
You will figure it out later.

#Menu
As you can see, they only displayed beverage menu, you can ask for the food/snack which available. Maybe they will come out with the food menu later.
Really love their interior so much. Such a quirky and innovative design.
Now do you get the hints about the cardboard by looking at this picture?

Yes! Everything inside this cafe were made of cardboards! #tables
It's a compilation of few a cardboards to form a table like this.
Even their #chairs were also made from card board.
Robert were kind enough to demonstrated to us on how they fold their chairs.

It's seems easy yet not that easy
And tadah!! He done folding the chair just within 3 minutes!! Bravo #bigapplause
If you have the same question in your mind like i do; Can these chair handle people that are slightly overweight? What is the weight limit of the chairs?
Don't worry, Robert answered "Yes!I'm 83kg and these chair can handle me very well" :)
He said these chair can handle up to 130kg.
A kind reminder, for people who weight more than 130kg will need to prepares their own chair. #kidding
Don't worry, I think they will prepare something more special for you.:)
B&W Signature Coffee Rm8.90
Look at their coffee packaging! Is so cute that makes me finish my drink in just a blink of eyes and of course their coffee is nice too.
Not only that, this box is actually their menu too! Cool right?! What's even greater is you can bring this cute little boxey home with you! #yeshh
Cheese cracker
A very straight forward snack which consist of tuna, onion with some sprinkled of chilli flakes and not to missed out the cheese.
Lamp made of cardboard. Very impressed by their creativity on using the cardboard.
Lightbulb made of cardboard too. #justkidding

Scribble, scribble, scribble as you like.

Thanks Robert for your selfless and friendly hospitality.
The cafe actually open until the last customer make a move and Robert open till midnight on the day we visited.
Having a great time with you.
